Ann Amphlett - your host
Ann's a Salford girl who turned her back on the financial services sector to take over her parents' pub in Manchester before running a series of well-known local pubs and meeting husband, Paul, en route.
Since arriving at The Swan in late 2005, Ann has established its reputation for excellence and just being a great place to eat, drink and be indubitably merry!
The Swan with Two Nicks has been a lovely, old-fashioned country pub for many years. In 1998, the Robson family of Hale created Quay Inns Ltd. to buy the business of The Swan with Two Nicks and prevent it becoming just another characterless "modernised" pub. TVs and fruit machines are banned as long as we're still here. Ann Amphlett joined us as General Manager in 2005 and she continues the Swan's long tradition of providing great hospitality.
We're positively dog-friendly. In fact, you'll find us listed on http://www.doggiepubs.org.uk
All dogs are welcome, as long as they're well-behaved, although, unlike the French, we do draw the line at setting places at table for them!
Ann's dogs are well known in the village and can often be heard telling the odd shaggy dog story at the bar...
Fortunately, we continue to successfully attract so many people to this out-of-way spot by working just as hard now as we ever have on improving our products and maintaining the quality of our service.
People seem to like what we do, so there's always a nice buzz to the atmosphere in The Swan, with a good mix of local regulars and visitors from further afield. In the winters, log fires add their own special character to the cosy ambience whilst during the summer months we have tables for alfresco dining and drinking while enjoying the fine Cheshire air.
We set out to fulfill people's expectations of what a great country pub should provide and try to offer the very best in everything we do: an extensive range of freshly-cooked delicious food, award-winning real ales and fine wines, all at terrific value for money - and served in comfortable and quirky surroundings, accompanied by an authentic atmosphere that encourages fun and relaxation.

Real ale inevitably takes a leading role at The Swan with Two Nicks, as it has done for over two centuries when the building was known simply as The Swan Alehouse. The award of a Cask Marque
has confirmed the quality of our ales. We hope it will encourage even more of you to travel from far and wide to sample the contents of our casks.
Arriving at The Swan with Two Nicks, you'll always find a warm greeting from our friendly staff, that instantly makes the old place feel like a home-from-home.
You could probably sum up our mission as ensuring that every guest who visits The Swan leaves more contented than when they arrived and excited by the prospect of visiting us again shortly.
